چکیده
Nematodes are one of the main impactors on health, welfare and productivity farmed animals. Teladorsagia circumcincta endemic throughout many sheep-producing countries, particularly in northern hemisphere, contribute to pathology economic losses seen farms. Control these nematode infections is essential heavily reliant chemotherapy (anthelmintics), but this has been compromised by development anthelmintic resistance. In mammals, composition intestinal microbiota shown have a significant effect overall health. The interactions between host, pathogens complex influenced numerous factors. study, comparisons faecal sheep infected with sensitive or resistant strains T. circumcincta, without monepantel administration were assessed. findings from both samples terminal ileum mucosal scrapings showed clear differences successfully treated animals those that left untreated and/or carrying nematodes. Specifically, potentially beneficial genus Bifidobacterium was identified as elevated detection other biomarkers will provide basis for new therapeutic reagents relevant problems emerging multidrug

Selection and characterisation of monepantel resistance in Teladorsagia circumcincta isolates
Monepantel (MPTL) is one of two new anthelmintic compounds introduced onto the sheep market to control gastro-intestinal nematodes. Resistance to this compound is rare but has been reported. In order to preserve the efficacy of this and other anthelmintics, it is essential to understand both (a) the mechanisms involved in the selection of resistance and (b) how the parasites evolve to deal with...
متن کاملRegulation of Teladorsagia circumcincta and Trichostrongylus colubriformis worm populations by grazing sheep with differing resistance status.
In an experiment lasting 4 years, changes in the Teladorsagia circumcincta and Trichostrongylus colubriformis populations were compared in lambs and adult sheep with differing resistance statuses. Two flocks of 30 rams (resistant R and susceptible S) grazed separate pastures and 8 rams were slaughtered in the middle and at the end of each grazing season. Five groups of tracer lambs were added e...
متن کاملLocal cytokine transcription in naïve and previously infected sheep and lambs following challenge with Teladorsagia circumcincta
BACKGROUND The abomasal helminth Teladorsagia circumcincta is one of the most economically important parasites affecting sheep in temperate regions. Infection is particularly detrimental to lambs, in which it can cause pronounced morbidity and severe production losses. Due to the spreading resistance of this parasite to all classes of anthelmintic drugs, teladorsagiosis is having an increasingl...
متن کاملAbomasal dysfunction and cellular and mucin changes during infection of sheep with larval or adult Teladorsagia circumcincta
This is the first integrated study of the effects on gastric secretion, inflammation and fundic mucins after infection with L3 T. circumcincta and in the very early period following transplantation of adult worms. At 3 months-of-age, 20 Coopworth lambs were infected intraruminally with 35,000 L3; infected animals were killed on Days 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 post-infection and 6 controls on either D...
متن کاملVariable exon usage of differentially-expressed genes associated with resistance of sheep to Teladorsagia circumcincta
The resistance and susceptibility of sheep to the common abomasal nematode parasite, Teladorsagia circumcincta is strongly associated with the differential polarization of the immune response. Resistant animals control larval colonization by the production of a protective antibody response regulated by Th2 T cells. Susceptible sheep respond to infection by developing an inflammatory Th1/Th17 re...
